Alumni Spotlight

Montgomery County PA Chapter alumnus, Benjamin Gilbert, is a senior at Howard University in Washington, DC. An intern for the Jack and Jill Foundation, Ben is a Jack and Jill HQ star – dedicating his time to Foundation operations and majoring in Sports Management at school.

CustomTaylorred is a lifestyle brand that is inspired by Taylor Patrice Gilbert. She graduated from Howard in 2015 and passed away in the summer following. Her brother Benjamin Gilbert created this line in order to keep her memory alive long after her physical departure. They both served as President of Jack and Jill’s Montgomery County PA Chapter, and attended Howard University together with their oldest sister Amber.

This line works to promote positivity, while inspiring people to “Be Free” to live the lives that they envision for themselves. The brand was launched in January of 2016, and they recently released a small collection celebrating the 2 Year Anniversary of the company. Benjamin understands that life is extremely precious and believes it should be spent doing the things you love, and are passionate about. The brand has allowed him to turn this hardship into a beautiful brand centered around fashion, something that both him and his sister were passionate about. He uses this line as a platform to make an impact in different communities. He has conducted an annual clothing and toy drive for students in Philadelphia. CustomTaylorred has also donated to Africare an organization that works to improve the quality of life in Africa, and  raised funds for Sisters Network Inc. to assist in their efforts to provide resources for African American women with breast cancer. Benjamin is grateful for the lasting impact that his sister Taylor has had on his life, and will continue her legacy through this iconic brand.
