Regional Director’s Welcome

Mothers of the Sensational South Central Region:

Welcome to Program Year 2012-2013!  I am honored to serve as your 19th Regional Director.

Sixty years ago, Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated was stretching southward and westward. The mothers who chartered the New Orleans and Houston chapters recognized the benefits of such an organization and in doing so brought Jack and Jill to its southernmost point in the history of its founding.  The establishment of the New Orleans and Houston Chapters were the beginning of the South Central Region.  We are grateful to our predecessors for their vision and foresight in recognizing the importance of this institution that to this day stands unparalleled.

The commitment that brought us to this point must be continued.  Innovative and purposeful programming is required of each of us to continue the legacy of Jack and Jill and this year’s national theme:  “Power and Potential: Parents Empowering Youth through Leadership Development, Cultural Heritage, and Community Service” provides the direction in which to structure our work.  Our commitment also continues for our regional project-“The Gift of Time”.  Please continue your work in our schools on behalf of all children.

The regional team — myself, Regional Treasurer LaVerne Morris-Parker, Regional Secretary Fran Mayes, Foundation Member-at-Large Diedra Fontaine and National Program Director Gladys Henderson — embodies the regional theme of “AIMing for Timeless Service”.  It reflects a commitment to serve all children for a lasting legacy.  We trust it will be yours.

Have a productive year.
